Taste Cumbria Cockermouth is now firmly on the foodie calendar in the last weekend of September – it’s the highlight of the Taste festival season. Many of the independent businesses in Cockermouth also joined in the event, offering special offers, samples and competitions with a food and drink theme. On the Friday, you could either dine at our pop-up restaurant, sampling the food of amazing Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan, cocktails from the Lakes Distillery and matched wines from Corney & Barrow, or head to the Trout Hotel Marquee for a comedy night with food courtesy of Cranstons washed down with Jennings ale. All day on Saturday and Sunday, Main Street was packed with more than 80 producers’ stalls selling food, drink and lots of lovely things for your table. They’re next to our show marquee, home of the chef and expert demonstrations. In Market Place, there was hot food to eat on the spot, plus loads of family fun.
